And that holds true for the school as well as the school children, which needs to be reinforced, I think the biggest challenge that we have been facing is that the mask is not resp...

Sudden cardiac death (SCD), also called sudden cardiac arrest, Is when the heart abruptly and without warning stops pumping When SCD occurs, no blood can be pumped to the rest of the body. It is responsible for half of all heart disease deaths. Sudden cardiac death occurs when the heart’s electrical system malfunctions. It is not a heart attack (also known as myocardial infarction). A heart attack is when A blockage in a blood vessel interrupts the flow of oxygen-rich blood to the heart, causing the heart muscle to die. So if the heart can be compared to a house, SCD occurs when there is an electrical problem and a heart attack when there is a plumbing problem. The most common cause of cardiac arrest is a heart rhythm disorder or arrhythmia called Ventricular fibrillation (VF). The heart has a built-in electrical system. In a healthy heart, the Sinoatrial node, the heart’s natural “ What Is pacemaker ” triggers the heartbeat, and then electrical impulses run along pathways in the...

Heart Pacemaker: Purpose, Procedure, and Risks

WHAT IS A PACEMAKER? It is a medical device that uses electrical impulses delivered by electrodes to contract the heart muscles and regulate the beating of the heart. The primary purpose of a Pacemaker is! o, maintain an adequate heart rate, either because the heart's natural Pacemaker is not lost enough, or there is a problem with the heart's electrical conduction system. WHO NEEDS A PACEMAKER? A Pacemaker is generally implanted into patients who have had repeated loss of consciousness or are at risk of it. HOW DOES IT WORK? A Pacemaker consists of a battery, a computerized generator. and wires with sensors at their tips. (The sensors are called eIec: trades.) The electrodes detect your heart's electrical activity and send data through the wires to tie the computer to the generator If your heart rhythm is...

What You Need To Know About Electrophysiology Study

Image
How The Heart Works The heart is a hollow, muscular organ that pumps blood throughout the body. The heart has four chambers, two upper (atria) and two lower (ventricles). The heart depends on its electrical system to deliver signals and make the   heartbeat   normally. For a normal heartbeat, an electrical signal starts in the sinus node, travels through  the  right and left atria, then trough the AV node to the right and left ventricles. If a signal starts in a different location, it travels an abnormal pathway. What Is An Electrophysiology Study? In some people, the signal starts elsewhere in the heart and follows an abnormal pathway (see page 1). This can cause the heart to beat very slowly (bradycardia) or very fast (tachycardia). During an electrophysiology (EP) study, two or more catheters (long, flexible wires) are inserted through veins in the leg, arm, and/or ne...
